Holiday Break

Only eleven more days of classes until we all enjoy our three-week holiday break. The last day of classes is Saturday, December 12th, and all classes resume on Sunday, January 3rd. We wish all of our dance families a holiday full of rest and relaxation, and we look forward to a wonderful year ahead.

Academic Year – Term 2 Enrollment

If you/your dancer is currently enrolled in 1st term (Sept-Dec) of an academic year class, they are automatically enrolled for 2nd term (Jan-June) so no one loses their spot. Second term tuition fees were posted to family accounts early in November and are due by Saturday, December 5th, after which the system will automatically apply a $20 late fee. Payments can be made through the parent portal with a credit card, or by e-transfer sent to the dance school’s email address (nldc@northlondondancecentre.ca).

RAD Ballet Exams & Class Awards

Congratulations to our 28 candidates who presented their work to the Royal Academy of Dance on November 9 & 10th. We are so pleased to report that EVERY dancer was successful with their entry, and we expect to receive your certificates within the next month.

The Nutcracker

Did you hear? SilverCity Cineplex in London is showing The Nutcracker by the National Ballet of Canada on December 5 and December 20. Tickets can be purchased online at https://www.cineplex.com.

Inclement Weather

We would encourage all of our parents and students to like/follow us on our social media accounts:

Twitter: @NLondonDance
Facebook: @nlondondnce
Instagram: northlondondancecentre

We use these avenues to post reminders of important upcoming dates as well as studio info. In the very rare case of any inclement weather closures, we would post this information here first. We have only closed for inclement weather once in the past nine years, however the decision to come to class or not always remains with the parent’s level of driving comfort. If you aren’t attending class for any reason, please report your absence using the student and parent portal.

Buns for Ballet Class

It is a long-standing tradition to see ballerinas with their hair gathered into a tidy bun. Buns ensure that students are not wasting valuable class time fixing their hair, and they can concentrate on what is most important in class – learning and developing a love for dance! Buns are mandatory for all ballet and acro classes at North London Dance Centre, for ages 3 & up. Bun kits are sold at the front desk for $5 if needed. Don’t know how to make a classical ballet bun? Here’s a great video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMj_eaRML1w

Adult Classes

classes we run per week! We have adult ballet, tap, contemporary, hip hop, progressing ballet technique, and jazz. It’s not too late to register online using the parent & student portal.

Toddler Time Dance

The next session of our popular Toddler Time Caregiver & Tot dance classes start January 3rd and run until March 31st:

  • Thursdays 10 am with Ms. Megan
  • Saturdays 11 am with Ms. Kelsey
  • Sundays 10:45 am with Ms. Kelly

Register online in the parent & student portal.

Covid-19 Precautions

As of November 16th, London moved into yellow, which is the “protect” level of the provincial COVID-19 response framework. ? We confirm that at this point in time, the following COVID-19 related precautions will continue to be followed at NLDC and we commit to keeping you informed as guidelines change moving forward:

  1. Our lobby and dancer’s waiting room are closed to ensure a minimum number of people are entering/exiting the building. Dancers will continue to be dropped off at the door, and our staff will guide students into the studio. A few things that will help ALL classes to get in and out of the studio more efficiently:
    • Complete your Covid-19 screen form online in advance of arriving to the dance studio. It must be completed EVERY DAY that you/your dancer is coming into the facility. Here’s the link to bookmark: https://forms.gle/MoFzEScDYgWxyAKJA
    • Please do not leave the parking lot until a staff member has confirmed your screening was received, and hands are sanitized.
    • You do not need to complete the form if you are NOT coming to dance that day.
    • Wear slip on shoes that are easy to remove and put on. Please put your dancer’s name on their shoes.
    • Line up no more than 5 minutes in advance of your class & please do not block the entrances or park in front of neighbouring businesses in the spots that are marked as reserved for their customers.
    • Arrive on time to pick up children & be visible to our office staff from the door. Please do not wait in your cars as the dancers and staff cannot see you when the dancers exit the building.
    • Have dancers go to the washroom before arriving at dance.
  2. Dancer’s will continue to be asked to sanitize their hands coming in and out of the facility.
  3. EVERYONE MUST wear a mask to enter & exit the facility, and any time they are not in class dancing.
  4. Dancer’s will continue to be physically distanced in our ‘dancing boxes’ in the studio.
  5. Our enhanced cleaning routines will stay in place for the foreseeable future.
  6. Outdoor shoes must be taken off immediately when entering the building.

Young Company

The Young Company of NLDC finished their piece with Ms. Brooke Gilmour last month, and also started working with Ms. Breanna Willis, who is creating a new piece for the company dancers in the new year. Originally from Alberta, she holds a Bachelor of Physical Education (Dance Major) from the Universities of Alberta and Otago (New Zealand). Welcome, Ms. Breanna!

As always, thank you for trusting us with your family’s dance education. We know you have other choices, and we’re glad you’re with us. We look forward to continuing to serve your families in 2021.
