COVID-19 Precautions
A reminder that North London Dance Centre has not changed our existing masking requirements at this time. Out of an abundance of caution and concern for the safety our of staff, faculty, and students, we will be continuing with our existing masking requirements until at least Saturday, April 16th (Easter Weekend), at which time we will decide how we would like to move forward. Given that more than 25% of our students are too young to be vaccinated, we decided that continuing to mask for an additional period was prudent. A reminder that our existing masking requirements are as follows:
- Masks are mandatory to enter and exit the building (worn over both nose & mouth) for everyone ages 2 and up, and students can optionally remove them while in the studio dancing.
- Staff will be masked
Easter Weekend
Easter weekend the studio will be closed on the Friday (April 15), Sunday (April 17) and Monday (April 18), but OPEN for all regular classes on Saturday, April 16th.
PA Day Dance Camp – June 3

Let’s Dance 2022 – June Recital
Let’s Dance is the name of our annual June recital shows. This year’s recital will be held on Sunday, June 12, at the Wolf Performance Hall, 251 Dundas Street at the Central Library in Citi Plaza. All classes starting at Dance Development up to Level 12 will be performing. Dress rehearsals will be held the day before the shows, also at the Wolf Performance Hall on Saturday, June 11. Friday, June 10, will be the last day of regular classes at the studio in second term.
Detailed schedules will be provided to all students over the coming weeks, which will indicate each class’s rehearsal slot, as well as which show(s) they will be performing in. There will be four shows on show day to accommodate the size of our program (like previous years) though many classes perform in only one show.
A friendly reminder of our recital attendance policy: dancers who miss 5 or more of their last 10 classes, OR both of the last 2 classes leading up to our June Recital, will not be eligible to perform onstage with their class. The ‘last 10 class countdown’ has already started for almost all classes, so please keep this in mind when registering your children for other spring activities. Each class learns a routine unique to their class, so while you are welcome to continue to makeup missed classes where availability permits, makeup classes do not count towards recital attendance eligibility. We need dancers attending their regular class time to learn their routines, and feel confident on stage!
This year, dancers will be wearing their classroom uniform on stage. Please ensure your dancer’s uniform is in good repair, and that tights are not stained or have and holes/tears. If you need a fresh pair of tights for the show, we expect we will have our studio stock replenished around mid-May. (You may not realize that recital costumes are ordered in January each year to have them in time for the June show, and due to the uncertainty around theatres reopening this past January, we elected not to gamble on ordering them this year.)
All students are asked to wear a ‘dancers bun’ to rehearsal and show day unless their haircut is VERY short (above the ears and off the neck). You can purchase a bun kit for $5.00 at the front desk if you need supplies. No idea what a dancer’s bun is? Check out this great how-to video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMj_eaRML1w
All of our performances are professionally videotaped, and a digital download is shared with all participants after the editing process has been completed. Personal video recording (and photography) is not permitted in the theatre. The performance fee for this year’s June recital will be $29 per student. We will be posting performance fees to family accounts the last week of April.
Performances are an integral part of our school’s program, however participation is optional, so if your dancer will NOT be participating in our June recital this year for any reason, kindly let us know by email as soon as possible, so we can let their teacher(s) know.
Tickets for the show will be available online only starting Thursday, May 12 at 7 am at: https://www.onstagedirect.com/northlondon We highly recommend that you purchase your tickets in advance as tickets have sold out in previous years. Adult tickets will be $17 each and child/senior tickets will be $13 each.
We will be turning off our lobby viewing screens near the end of April to keep our final stage presentations a surprise 😀

Announcements
We are thrilled to announce that we have another RAD ballet teacher joining our team this fall, Ms. Debra Jones. Ms. Debra is an Examiner, Mentor & Registered Teacher of the Royal Academy of Dance, and trained (among other places) at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. A big welcome to her!
Thank YOU
As always, thank you for trusting us with your family’s dance education. We know you have other choices, and we’re glad you’re with us.
