Only 7 weeks to go until our June recital – Let’s Dance 2022!

Attached to this email is our STAGE REHEARSAL SCHEDULE for our June recitals. I encourage you to take a moment to take note of each of your dancer’s classes and add these dates and times into your family schedule. Stage rehearsals will be held the day before the shows, at the Wolf Performance Hall, 251 Dundas Street, on Saturday, June 11: 2022 Recital Rehearsal Schedule – Students.pdf This schedule indicates when your dancer’s class(es) rehearse on stage with their classmates.  Each performing class has been allocated a time slot when they will rehearse their piece on stage, and this is a dress rehearsal, so students should arrive wearing their classroom uniform and hair in a bun.

Our SHOW ASSIGNMENT LIST was sent out previously to all families, and is also included in this email for easy reference.  It indicates which classes are performing in each of our FOUR recital shows on Sunday, June 12. There are FOUR shows that day: 10:00 am, 12:30 pm, 3:30 pm and 6:00 pm. Many classes perform in multiple shows so please check the list carefully.: Show Assignment Summary 2022.pdf (35.5kB)

  • Tickets go ON SALE for our June 12th Let’s Dance recital shows on Thursday, May 12 at 7 am at Sunday, June 12, at the Wolf Performance Hall, 251 Dundas Street at the Central Library in Citi Plaza.

A friendly reminder of our recital attendance policy: dancers who miss 5 or more of their last 10 classes, OR both of the last 2 classes leading up to our June Recital, will not be eligible to perform onstage with their class.  Each class learns a routine unique to their class, so while you are welcome to continue to makeup missed classes where availability permits, makeup classes do not count towards recital attendance eligibility.  We need dancers attending their regular class time to learn their routines.

This year, dancers will be wearing their classroom uniform on stage.  Please ensure your dancer’s uniform is in good repair, and that tights are not stained or have and holes/tears.  If you need a fresh pair of tights for the show, we expect we will have our studio stock replenished around mid-May.  

All students are asked to wear a proper, ‘dancers bun’ to their rehearsal and show day unless their haircut is VERY short (above the ears and off the neck).  No idea what a dancer’s bun is? Check out this great how-to video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMj_eaRML1w. You can purchase a bun kit for $5.00 at the desk if you need supplies.

All of our performances are professionally videotaped, and a digital download is shared with all participants after the editing process has been completed.  Personal video recording (and photography) is not permitted in the theatre. We thank you in advance for adhering to this policy, which allows all members of our audience to enjoy the show. It is both distracting and inconsiderate when people try to take their own personal videos or pictures. 

The performance fee for this year’s June recital will be $29 per student.  We will be posting performance fees to family accounts soon.

Performances are an integral part of our school’s program, however participation is optional, so if your dancer will NOT be participating in our June recital this year for any reason, kindly let us know by email as soon as possible, so we can let their teacher(s) know.
